About Us

Welcome to Driftless Minerals! We're Ashley and Jon, the husband and wife duo at the heart of Driftless Minerals.

While we are both from Wisconsin, our crystal journey began in North Carolina. Shortly after getting married, Jon joined the Army and we moved to Fayetteville, NC. That's where Ashley opened up a retail store, that we ran for 8 years. It was the start of a wild adventure that led us to where we are today.

In 2019, Ashley went to her first gem show in search of some unique items to bring to our retail store. That is when she fell in love with the mineral world. We started carrying a handpicked selection of crystals in our store and the feedback was great! But, little did we know that a global pandemic was lurking around the corner, ready to test our resilience and launch our mineral business.

In 2020 the pandemic required us to temporarily close our retail store. In search of a solution to having our doors closed, we transformed the little loft above the store (that we were also living in) into a stage for crystal live sales. Before long, it was overflowing with rocks and we had to move out of the apartment to make room for our live sale business that we named New Moon Minerals.

We quickly discovered that our new crystal journey was more than just a business venture, it became a passion of ours. We eventually had to move the business out of the loft and into a 4,000 square foot warehouse where we hosted weekly live sales that bring our passion for minerals straight to your screens.

Our journey took another turn when we decided to move back home to Wisconsin. We packed up the warehouse and headed to our new home in Bagley, Wisconsin. This next phase is everything we dreamed of. We are surrounded by nature, close to family and have a large warehouse right on our property.

Once we got to Wisconsin we began to explore the unique geological area we live in here, the Driftless Region. It is a unique area in the upper midwest that was untouched by glaciers, unlike the surrounding area. The Driftless Region is characterized by steep, rugged terrain, deep river valleys, and limestone bluffs. We even started finding unique rocks in our area and began field collecting some incredible specimens here.

That is when we were inspired to make one more big move in our business. Over the years our taste for crystals evolved. We started as a metaphysical gift shop but fell in love with collecting unique mineral specimens and learning the history behind so many of them. So it was time for a new name, one that connected our passion to our roots. That is when Driftless Minerals was born! This rebrand gave us an identity that resembled who we have become in this long and wild journey.

We can't wait to see where it takes us, and we are so happy to have you be a part of it!
